Luxury Barn Conversion Smart Home | Hockley Heath
A barn conversion transformed into a fully integrated smart home. Every light, every heating zone, every room — controlled exactly how and when you want it.
Farthing Electrical designed and installed the complete electrical and smart home system for this Hockley Heath barn conversion. Lutron RA2 Select smart lighting throughout, Honeywell Evo Home underfloor heating across 8 zones, home cinema lighting, and a wireless network to the outbuilding. Here’s what was involved.
Smart Lighting Throughout
Lutron RA2 Select dimmers and wireless switches in every room. Geofencing on the external lights means they switch on as you arrive home, with schedules that adjust automatically to seasonal daylight levels. The home cinema bar includes LED tape behind glass shelving, trimless low-level wall lights for viewing, and smart-controlled downlights — all managed through a single app.

Underfloor Heating — 8 Zones
Honeywell Evo Home system with 26 loops across 3 manifolds. Eight independent heating zones, each with its own local thermostat, plus full app and voice control via Alexa. Two hot water tanks for instant hot water throughout. One of the most versatile heating systems we’ve installed.
External Lighting
Up/down wall lights and ground uplighting across the front elevation — all controlled through the Lutron system with geofencing and seasonal scheduling. The effect at night speaks for itself.
