EICR & CU Replacement

Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) and Consumer Unit/Fuse Board Replacement
Homeowners should get their electrics checked at least every 10 years and with the recent change in legislation landlords must get them checked every 5 years or change of occupancy. . This is basically a health check on the electrical installation like an MOT on a car.
The consumer unit or commonly referred to as a fuse board is the central point at which mains electricity enters your property. Generally, you only find out that you need a new consumer unit when an electrician informs you while you’re having alterations done or something is tripping.

Electric heating

Car Chargers

With the government committing to end sales of petrol and diesel cars by 2030 there is an increasing demand for electric cars. So EV chargers will be an important piece of equipment for every homeowner. The most important aspect of these is that they are installed safely and do not put too much strain on your current installation and that of the energy supplier. Additionally, we can install smart chargers that can take advantage of cheaper tariffs when supply is high and demand is low, allowing you to charge your electric vehicle at a lower rate and not exceed the maximum demand of your property. Alternately, if you have a solar PV system it can use the surplus energy to charge your vehicle, so the sun can charge your car when you are at home.

Mesh Wifi Systems

Do you have dead spots of internet in your home? Do you want WiFi coverage at the bottom of your garden? Having a strong internet connection is even more important nowadays with the increasing number of people working from home. We can install a solid mesh Wi-Fi system that can completely cover every nook and cranny of your home.
There are different ways of extending your home network. Bridges and powerline adaptors are the simple methods but these can be unreliable and slow. A more reliable solution is by installing a Mesh WiFi system. Mesh WiFi is a whole home wifi system built to eliminate dead zones and to provide uninterrupted signal throughout your home.
By hardwiring data cables to these dead zones and installing wireless access points creates a solid, faster and more reliable home network. We use a third party cloud service that can give you the support you need when you need it.

Testimonials

|
I needed a new consumer unit and Farthing came highly recommended. It’s easy to see why James gets so many recommendations; came out promptly and quoted, the price was competitive and fair, completed the job with high standard of workmanship and was a pleasure to deal with. James also helped to fit new lights and I could not be happier. Would use Farthing again and again in the future.

Andy Hughes – Solihull

James was outstanding from initial quote to coming back the next week to complete the work (replacement of smoke detectors and some lights in bathroom). Very prompt, professional, reliable and keeps work space clean, both during and at the end of the job. Highly recommend Farthing Electrical.

Ben Thomas – Dickens Heath

I needed an outside light fitting within 24 hours. I phoned various electricians and not only was James the most reasonable with his quote, he was polite, knowledgable and willing to speak at length on the phone giving advice and explaining the process. The very next day James attended my property and completed the job faultlessly, leaving no mess and spent time (in the rain!) explaining everything and double checking everything before leaving. Great job James – I will be recommending others to you!

Chris Turner – Solihull

Wanted to leave a review regarding James’ work at our house. Great communication beforehand and fabulous work for a competitive price. We are very pleased and would use Farthing Electrical again in the future!

Marianne Quantrill – Solihull

I’m so glad I found James using the Monkspath & Hillfield group- it’s no wonder why people recommend him. James has been so easy to communicate with, is really reliable and really hard working, and has done an excellent job! We are using him again for more work and would definitely recommend him for any electrical work!
